As a contractor you simply apply for a job in odesk. You submit a resume, go for an interview and others until you get hired. Using the usual process you’ll work on the contract yourself and you get 100% of the payment when you accomplish your contract. On the other hand, if you outsource or use outsourcing you can actually get a certain percentage of the payment but actually without doing anything! That’s right you don’t have to do anything but still get paid. Still confused? Here’s a walkthrough:
First you sign up for an Odesk contractor account.
Fix your profile. Take the Odesk readiness test, take a few skills exam (2 or 3 English tests would do)
As soon as you have a 100% profile completeness by simply filling out the info on your profile you can now apply for jobs.
Now to apply for jobs you should look for those that do not pay much. The reason for this is in order for you to get a profile rating and a good feedback in order to lure the big fishes. Usually, data entry, administrative tasks as well as article writing is the best stepping stone for a successful carreer in Odesk.
Spam your applications on different job postings – not on just one job posting. You can usually use 20 applications to apply for jobs on Odesk. As soon as these applications run out you’ll have to wait again for two days or more until an available application is available. Until then all you have to do is send applications.
Interviews as well as tests are given before you are hired so you should expect those and do those properly.
If the employer likes you then he’ll immediately give you the contract. Now you don’t have to ask for the payment upfront – remember that your main target is the feedback and the profile rating in order to get bigger and higher paying jobs.
As soon as you get the job the OUTSOURCING technique comes in. Instead of doing the job yourself you can set up an employer account using your contractor account. (I’m so glad I’ve found this option on Odesk)
You can create your employer account and you can post a job (supposed to be your job).
Of course you should understand already that you also need to pay the person that you’ll hire. So in order for your contractor to get his payment and for you to earn profit you should estimate the amount that you’ll receive from your employer and the amount that you’ll be paying your contractor. I usually pay 60% of the original amount to my contractor while I take the 40%. There is actually another technique to go about hiring the right person on how to lure the best contractors for your outsourced job however I can no longer explain through here because the article would look very lengthy and already would be boring. So I’ll work out another blog which will be part 2 of this topic. I’ll also provide the highest paid online jobs today that any newbie or idiot can easily do.
